Telek Dance A Sacred Heritage of Balinese Culture

Telek Dance is one of the various Balinese dances that uses masks, apart from Mask Dance, Barong and Rangda, Brutuk, and Wayang Wong. It is said that the Telek Mask is a sacred dance (Tari Wali) inherited from ancestors which is never performed. We are very confident that this dance performance is a means of “proposing” world safety, especially for the banjar or traditional villages of the supporting communities. If they don’t perform the Telek, their performance is like inviting various kinds of danger. This belief is what has helped make Telek Dance sustainable to this day. In fact, in order to maintain this ancestral tetamian (heritage), all the standards for Telek Dance performances are maintained as they are. Regarding performance times, each region has its own rules. Some do it twice a year, there are also those who do it regularly every fifteen days
